She founded Educational Dyslexia Instruction with one simple belief: every child deserves the opportunity to become a confident, successful reader. Watching students who once struggled with reading discover confidence, independence, and pride in their accomplishments is what inspires her every day.

Kiersten understands that reading challenges affect far more than academics. They can influence a child's confidence, motivation, and willingness to take on new challenges. That's why she is committed to providing individualized, evidence-based instruction in a supportive environment where every student feels encouraged, capable, and celebrated.

As the founder and director of Educational Dyslexia Instruction, Kiersten has built a team that shares her commitment to excellence, compassion, and professionalism. Together, they partner with families to provide consistent, structured literacy instruction while celebrating every milestone along the way.

Reading Specialist

Reyanna believes that every child has the ability to become a successful reader when given the right instruction, encouragement, and support. With over 15 years of experience working with children and several years providing individualized reading remediation, she is passionate about helping students overcome challenges and experience the confidence that comes with meaningful progress.

Using the Barton Reading & Spelling System, Reyanna provides structured, individualized instruction tailored to each student's unique learning style. She creates a warm, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable taking risks, asking questions, and celebrating every success along the way. Her goal is not only to strengthen reading skills but also to help students develop confidence in themselves as learners.

Reyanna's passion for one-on-one instruction became deeply personal through her own family. When her son began falling behind academically, she chose to homeschool him and provide the individualized support he needed. Watching him grow into a confident learner and excel academically reinforced her belief in the power of personalized instruction. That experience continues to inspire her work with every student she teaches.

Sierra is passionate about helping children discover that learning can be both successful and enjoyable. With more than eight years of experience working with students of diverse learning needs, she is dedicated to creating a supportive, engaging environment where every child feels encouraged to grow in confidence and develop a love of reading.

Using the Barton Reading & Spelling System, Sierra provides individualized, structured literacy instruction tailored to each student's unique strengths and learning style. Her calm, patient approach helps students feel comfortable taking on new challenges while celebrating each milestone along the way.

Before joining Educational Dyslexia Instruction, Sierra worked as a teacher's aide, collaborating closely with educators to support students with a wide variety of learning differences. That experience strengthened her passion for individualized instruction and reinforced her belief that every child can thrive when given the right tools, encouragement, and support.

Sierra is committed to continual professional growth, ensuring that the instruction she provides reflects current research and best practices in literacy intervention.

Reading Specialist

Makena is passionate about helping children discover the confidence that comes with becoming a successful reader. She believes every child deserves a positive, encouraging learning environment where they feel supported, challenged, and celebrated as they grow.

Makena earned her bachelor's degree in Psychology from San Diego State University, where she developed a strong understanding of child development, learning, and behavior. During her studies, she completed an internship at a dyslexia remediation center, working alongside educational therapists to provide individualized, structured literacy instruction for students with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences. That experience confirmed her passion for helping children strengthen their reading and writing skills while building confidence in themselves as learners.

Before joining Educational Dyslexia Instruction, Makena spent more than five years as a recreational gymnastics coach, teaching children in both weekly classes and seasonal camps. Through those experiences, she learned the importance of patience, flexibility, and meeting each child where they are. She understands that every student learns differently and enjoys discovering each child's unique strengths so she can tailor instruction to help them succeed.
